Portallax sees a revisit to Darren’s former, character driven compositions merged with the his more recent fine-tuned image-scapes, built with more iconography, geometry and ambiguity.
Works in this series are full colour explosions. Borrowing the bold hard edged outline from that of the cartoon and combined with the layered stacking formation familiar with many of his newer studio works.
These works make space for the more playful and pictorial elements that have inspired Darren’s output in the past, whilst retaining the mystery and ambiguity that persists in the present.
