Creativity Under Quarantine

A series of original works on paper produced during the Covid-19 lockdowns.

Made using everyday household objects, the project explores how limitation can generate experimentation rather than restriction.

Each work is accompanied by a process-led video, documenting how familiar materials were used as tools for mark-making to create abstract compositions.

The series reflects an ongoing interest in constraint as a catalyst for invention.

About this project

Created during a period of restricted movement and limited resources, the focus shifted to what was immediately available.

Everyday objects became tools for mark-making and form. Through repetition, adjustment and intuitive decision-making, familiar materials were re-purposed into new methods for building texture-led compositions.

Rather than treating confinement as a barrier, the series considers how creativity adapts under pressure.

Working within constraint revealed new ways of seeing, reinforcing the idea that invention does not rely on ideal conditions.
