Parallax series
This collection of paintings sees a move away from the wrapped, bold outlined works from Darren’s previous studio output in favour of a more selective approach to their line-work. These paintings allow more space for suggestive compositions and formplay – evident throughout the collection and it’s subsequent developments.
The paintings in this two part set use the vibrancy of the primary pallet to transport viewers directly to the mindset of their most playful moments of youth. Vibrant imagery that is universal and impossible to ignore.
The inner windows (or portals as Darren likes to refer to them as) from this series are offset by a stark deep black border, framing the paintings and pulling focus to the vibrant artwork in central view.
