As we remove the bricks, we reveal the vibrancy and playfulness that lays behind. A metaphor for Darren’s project as an artist. When we view our world through a lens of playfulness and curiosity we are able to expand and enrich our experiences of the world.
The paintings here are symbols of this mindset, which is at the core of Darren’s work. The bricks in this instance represent notions of self-consciousness or an inability to engage in our surroundings in any other way than what is presented to us.
