They say home is where the heart is, but in our case, home is where the art is. Well this may have been the case a while back in Hackney Wick, but these days the sights of cranes, bulldozers, developers and hoardings seem to have replaced the now lesser spotted artist.
Darren John’s recent work takes the imagination itself as subject. These are not paintings of places or events, rather the canvas operates as a window into the mind of the painter. Cryptic and imposing yet playful, John’s visual language channels the mind set of creativity in all its spontaneity.
In an effort to extend the UK Bank Holiday excitement from late May I traveled to Cork for the Irish Bank Holiday that takes place on the following weekend of the 4th and 5th of June to paint some brand new public artworks in the lovely Irish sunshine.
